Over at Best Buy they are listing a new Blu-ray player from Samsung.
The BD-P2550 unit appears to be much the same as the 1500, with the addition of 7.1 analog outputs and the Silicon Optix HQV Reon scaling engine.
Best Buy has some great Blu-ray player promotions this week.
The Bonus View enabled Panasonic DMP-BD30K Blu-ray Disc Player is listed for $359.99, a saving of $40 while the Sharp AQUOS BD-HP20U Blu-ray Disc Player is $379.99, saving $20.
It was a bit of a surprise today to see a couple of imports listed on Amazon - one of which appears to be imported by them.
The Batman Begins - Bonus Figurine Edition has been listed for Blu-ray for August 5th, 2008, with the distributor listed as WEA Japan. Retail is listed as $299.98, while the Amazon price is $209.95.
I read over at Video Business that according to retailers, Warner Home Video is launching aggressive pricing promotions for the fourth quarter, including its most comprehensive Blu-ray Disc promotion yet.
Starting early September and running through Q1 2009, Warner will offer a Blu-ray point-of-sale rebate program with which will effectively reduce prices of participating catalog titles by several dollars. Title include The Fugitive, Enter the Dragon, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, The Aviator, The Road Warrior and Swordfish.
In a 2 day promotion, Best Buy is offering a $100 gift card and free shipping with the purchase of a Blu-ray player. Choose from Sony, Sharp, Panasonic, Denon, Samsung, LG or even their Insignia player, which is on sale for $299.99 at the moment - effectively being a sub-$200 player!
We see a couple of Weinstein Blu-ray titles listed over at DVD Planet.
Both 1408 and The Mist have appeared with release dates scheduled for September 16th and August 5th respectively.
While the pages don’t seem to specify Blu-ray anywhere, you can clearly see 1408 show up at the top of their Blu-ray search. Perhaps not the most convincing evidence, but I for one will be excited if these listings turn out to be accurate.
Amazon has a new promotion up today.
Choose any two discs from a list of 39 titles and get them for $30 shipped.
Titles include Blade Runner, Troy, The Usual Suspects, Happy Feet, The Rock, Con Air and Fantastic Four.
Certainly a great chance to get a number of titles at 50% off or better.
We see a couple of interesting deals at Amazon today.
Firstly, Vantage Point is only $17.95, cheaper than most catalog titles and a savings of 54% over the retail price. 3:10 to Yuma is still a good deal at $18.95, a savings of 53%.
We also see some Fox, Paramount and Lionsgate titles on sale. Kingdom of Heaven (Director’s Cut) is only $18.95 (Savings of 53%) and at $19.95 (half off) we see Saw IV, War, Independence Day, Cloverfield, Mr. Brooks and Night at the Museum.
Best Buy has a new promotion for Blu-ray titles this week.

According to the website, the $349.99 player comes with the coupon book in the box.
