We just got word that Deep Discount is extending their promotion - offering 20% off their already low prices across the board - until June 29th.  This promotion applies to in stock Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, and HD DVDs - it does not apply to pre-order titles.

The best deals can be found where the Deep Discount price is the same as Amazon - for example I purchased the new Dirty Harry Box, for only $72 after discount! The retail is $129.95 and it is $89.95 at Amazon.

Best Buy has added a $100 discount coupon book to their Insignia Blu-ray Player.

According to the website, the $349.99 player comes with the coupon book in the box.

You can redeem the coupons at your local Best Buy store for $100 in instant savings on a great collection of Blu-ray Disc movies from Disney, Touchstone and Miramax. The coupons can be used in store only.

The player is available online and also at most stores for online ordering for store pick up.

We see that Robocop is the deal of the day at Amazon today, listed for only $15.99 - a saving of 60% off the $40 retail price. I must admit I really like this movie, definitely one of the best that Verhoeven has directed in my opinion, and a steal at that price.

We read over at Video Business that Walmart plans to extend its support of Blu-ray Disc by launching new dedicated sections in 1,200 outlets, and offering $100 store gift cards with Blu-ray player purchases in June.

The new ‘Hi-Def Blu-ray Experience Area’ will offer an increased selection of Blu-ray titles and new models of Blu-ray players from manufacturers like Magnavox, Samsung and Panasonic. Wal-Mart previously focused on Sony Blu-ray players.

Walmart will hand out $100 gift cards to anyone who purchases a Blu-ray player from June 8 through June 14 - discounted titles like 3:10 to Yuma, 300, War, Shooter and The Fifth Element will also feature that week.

The $100 gift card makes the Maganvox player effectively sub-$200 - quite a temptation for the bargain hunter!

If $16.95 seemed to expensive for you, Amazon has further reduced pricing for a handful of Warner titles to $14.95 - including Blade Runner (Five-Disc Complete Collector’s Edition), where the $14.95 represents a saving of 63%!

The other Warner titles reduced 57% are to $14.95 are 16 Blocks , 300, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Syriana.

The Magnolia release The Host is also at $14.95, savings 57% off retail.

As well as Superbad remaining at $19.95 (savings of 55%), they have added titles to the ‘Warner $16.95 sale’, currently offering 16 Blocks, 300, Firewall, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Syriana at that price, a saving of 52% off retail.

I see today that Amazon has severely discounted Superbad (2-Disc Unrated Extended Edition) - only $19.95, a savings of 55% off the rather high retail price of $43.95.

Honorable mention also goes to 16 Blocks, 300 [Blu-ray] and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang which are $16.95, a savings of 52% off retail - though these are part of the Summer Sale, where Superbad apparently is not.

These prices are perhaps in response to the sale prices at Best Buy right now.
