I see a wide range of new titles up for UK Blu-ray release.
ITV DVD is planning the Frank Darabont classic The Shawshank Redemption for release on November 10th, 2008. ITV also has The Ipcress File on the same day.
It looks like we will be getting a big dose of Hulk around the year’s end with the new Incredible Hulk movie Blu-ray Disc release as well as the earlier Ang Lee Hulk film.
In the UK, I see that Hulk has been listed by Universal Pictures UK for release on November 24th, 2008.
In France, I see that L’incroyable Hulk has been listed by Warner Home Video on January 23th, 2009.
Over in the UK today I see a bunch of new titles from Universal Pictures UK, starting with 40 Year Old Virgin on September 22nd, 2008.
Universal has also listed Land Of The Dead and The Thing on October 6th, Casino on October 20th, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore and I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry on November 10th, and Fearless, American Gangster, Miami Vice, The Mummy and The Scorpion King on November 24th, 2008
Equilibrium has been listed by Momentum Pictures for Blu-ray release on September 15th, 2008. This Sci-fi thriller from 2002 featuring Christian Bale and Sean Bean has somewhat of a cult following and was previously available as an HD DVD import from Japan. It is perhaps fitting that it will become an import from the UK for Blu-ray Disc, assuming region compatibility.
I see something at Amazon UK that makes me very happy today.
The cult TV series Thunderbirds, made back in 1964, has been scheduled for release by ITV on September 15th, 2008. The retail pricing is a little steep at £120.99 - of course Amazon has it for a significant discount - only £90.75.
A small follow up to yesterday’s James Bond dates for the UK.
There is also a James Bond Blu-Ray Collection Vol.1 box set planned by MGM Entertainment for release on October 20th, representing good savings over the individual purchases. No doubt the best way to purchase these for collectors like myself.
Bond is back, this time in High Definition! MGM Entertainment has listed Dr. No, From Russia With Love , Thunderball, Live And Let Die, For Your Eyes Only and Die Another Day for release on October 20th, 2008. No doubt we will see US listing for these movies soon.
Warner is up to their old tricks again, listing releases in the UK ahead of the USA. I expect that all of these will be released in the USA also, perhaps a little ahead of the UK dates.
First up, Batman movies galore! Expect Batman Forever, Batman Returns and Batman And Robin from Warner Home Video on December 29th, 2008. Also The Dark Knight has been moved up to December 1st. Not sure what happened to the first Tim Burton Batman… perhaps in the next update.
Warner has some significant new listings for the UK today
The much anticipated Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight has been listed for December 1st, 2008.
Also eagerly awaited is the Blu-ray release of the Matrix Trilogy - The Matrix/Matrix Reloaded/Matrix Revolutions is listed for November 17th, 2008, a week earlier than the French release. It will be interesting to see when Warner is planning to release this in the USA.
I see that one of my favourites has been added for pre-order in the UK.
Metrodome Video will release the giant rabbit story Donnie Darko on September 29th, 2008. Metrodome Video will also release Bloodrayne 2 - Deliverance on September 22nd, 2008.
