I see that Warner has listed a number of new titles for France today, including some of the Matrix movies as individual releases as well as a number of releases already announced in the USA.

Warner have scheduled Matrix, Matrix révolutions and Animatrix for release on November 12th as single disc editions. No doubt some will be happy to buy only the first movie and Animatrix, avoiding the other two less popular movies.

Also listed for release are L.a. confidential, Entretien avec un vampire (Interview with the Vampire), Beetlejuice and Generation perdue (Lost Boys) on October 15th, Resident evil and Resident evil extinction on November 12th, and Amour de l’or (Fool’s Gold) on November 19th, 2008.

I see some interesting listings in France this week.

Highlander and Stargate : La porte des étoiles are coming to Blu-ray from Studio Canal on October 23rd, 2008. I am hoping for a decent version of Highlander, since the USA theatrical cut should be avoided if at all possible. There can be only one!

It looks like we will be getting a big dose of Hulk around the year’s end with the new Incredible Hulk movie Blu-ray Disc release as well as the earlier Ang Lee Hulk film.

In the UK, I see that Hulk has been listed by Universal Pictures UK for release on November 24th, 2008.

In France, I see that L’incroyable Hulk has been listed by Warner Home Video on January 23th, 2009.

Is it getting to the point where Europe gets release dates for all the latest movies before the US? Of course the US dates are sooner once we get them, but it seems more and more often we see movies listed in Europe first.

Case in point, I see that Wall-E on Blu-ray has been listed in France, complete with artwork (click on it for a larger view), with a release date of January 13th, 2009. It is interesting to see a 2009 release date already, and I am hoping that the US release will be in 2008 for the holiday rush.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain a good list of the titles coming out in France - nevertheless, here are some highlights that I have spotted.

TF1 Video will release Le Fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain on October 29th, 2008. This Jean-Pierre Jeunet movie has proven to be very popular all over the world and I am hoping for English language support on this one - and maybe even Delicatessen or City of Lost Children releases!

Interesting to see that Tintin has made the cut for Blu-ray in France.

The iconic comic book character will appear in the 1961 movie Tintin et le mystere de la toison d’or on August 21st, 2008.

It is great to see the French distributors releasing ‘native’ material as well as the US made films.

I noticed today that quite a few more of the expected Studio Canal Blu-ray Discs have been listed at Amazon France for pre-order. Hopefully these titles will be intended to cover other countries in Europe and feature other language support where the primary language is other than English!

Titles include Paris on September 2nd, as well as La grande vadrouille, Basic Instinct, The Fog, L’auberge espagnole, La haine, The Deer Hunter, The Good Shepherd, Million dollar baby, The Pianist and Les poupées russes - all on September 23rd, 2008.

Studio Canal has some releases planned which are also starting to be listed as available for pre-order. Total recall, La légende du scorpion noir, Le pacte des loups, Babel and Terminator 2 are all scheduled for September 23rd, 2008.

According to this article, we should also expect Paris on September 2nd.

Some really interesting Warner box set listing have gone up at Amazon France, including the eagerly anticipated Matrix Box set.

Coffret Matrix Trilogie : Matrix ; Matrix Reloaded ; Matrix Révolutions is scheduled for October 22nd, 2008. Some of the other box sets include previously unreleased films including Coffret Rush Hour trilogie : Rush Hour ; Rush Hour 2 ; Rush Hour 3, Coffret Keanu Reeves : Constantine + Matrix, Coffret Secret Terabithia + Astérix et les Vikings and Coffret Gremlins + Les Goonies - all on October 22nd, 2008.
