Tim Burton’s Big Eyes has been announced by Anchor Bay Entertainment for release on Blu-ray Disc April 14th, 2015.

This biographical drama is about American artist Margaret Keane, whose work was fraudulently claimed her husband at the time, Walter Keane.

The film was nominated for three Golden Globe Awards, with Amy Adams winning Best Actress, and was also nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film.

Whiplash to be Released on Blu-ray Disc February 24th, 2015

February 24th, 2015 will mark the arrival of the new Sony Pictures Classics Blu-ray release for Whiplash.

This drama music film written and directed by Damien Chazelle and is the story of a student jazz drummer who seeks the respect of a fearsome teacher.

Whiplash opened the 2014 Sundance Film Festival on January 16, 2014, and is also nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for J. K. Simmons, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 has been announced by Lionsgate Home Entertainment, scheduled for a March 6th, 2015 release.

This science fiction war film was written by Peter Craig and Danny Strong, and is the first of two films based on the novel Mockingjay, the final book in The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins.

It is the sequel to The Hunger Games and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and will be followed by The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.

Interstellar to be Released on Blu-ray Disc March 31st, 2015

Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi epic Interstellar has been announced for Blu-ray by Paramount Home Entertainment, scheduled for a March 31st, 2015 release.

Brothers Christopher and Jonathan Nolan wrote the screenplay based on a script Jonathan developed in 2007.

The story features a crew of astronauts who travel through a wormhole in search of a habitable planet for the human race.

The movie was shot using anamorphic 35 mm and IMAX 70 mm film.

This British biographical romantic drama film was adapted by Anthony McCarten from the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen by Jane Wilde Hawking.

The story covers her relationship with her ex-husband Stephen Hawking, including his diagnosis of motor neuron disease, and his success and fame in the field of theoretical physics.

Sons of Anarchy was an American crime drama television series about the lives of a close-knit outlaw motorcycle club.

The show revolves around Jackson “Jax” Teller, and became FX’s highest rated series ever.

The series finale was broadcast on December 9, 2014.

This superhero fantasy-comedy film is the 54th film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, and was inspired by the Marvel Comics superhero team.

The story features a young robotics prodigy named Hiro Hamada who forms a superhero team and is the first Disney animated film to feature Marvel Comics characters.

The new sequel Dumb and Dumber To has been announced by Universal Studios Home Entertainment, scheduled for a February 17th, 2015 release.

This comedy film was co-written and directed by Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly, and is a direct sequel to their popular 1994 film Dumb and Dumber.

The film features the return of the original stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels to the comedy franchise, and takes place some twenty years after the events of the first film.

The new story has Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne setting out on a cross country trip to find Harry’s daughter, who they discovered had been adopted.

The cast includes Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, Rob Riggle, Rachel Melvin, Laurie Holden and Bill Murray.

Dumb and Dumber To was directed by Bobby Farrelly, Peter Farrelly, whose comedy films include Me, Myself & Irene, The Heartbreak Kid, There’s Something About Mary, Hall Pass, Shallow Hal, Fever Pitch, The Three Stooges, Stuck on You, and Kingpin.

The film received predominantly negative reviews, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 28%, though it did better at the IMDb with a score of 6.5/10.

Dumb and Dumber To was successful in the cinema though, reaching $84M at the US box office, against a $40M budget.

Planned features for the disc include a 1080p video encode presented at 1.85:1, with lossless 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

The Judge to be Released on Blu-ray Disc January 27th, 2015

The Judge

January 27th, 2015 will mark the arrival of the new Warner Home Video Blu-ray release for The Judge.

The Judge is a courtroom drama where a hot shot defense lawyer returns to his childhood home, where his estranged father, who is also the town judge, is suspected of murder.

The cast is fairly impressive and includes Robert Downey, Jr., Robert Duvall, Vera Farmiga, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jeremy Strong, Dax Shepard and Billy Bob Thornton.

The Judge was directed by David Dobkin, who was also behind films like Fred ClausThe Change-Up and Wedding Crashers.

The critical response to the movie was fairly middle of the road, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 47%, while the public response to the movie tended towards the positive, with an IMDb score of 7.6/10.

The Judge was perhaps a little disappointing in the cinema, reaching $46.8M at the US box office, a little short of the $50M budget.

A commentary, deleted scenes and a pair of featurettes are also planned.
