The film saw mixed reviews but was a box office success.

Jason Bourne the Movie

It is 10 years after he exposed Operation Blackbriar, and Jason Bourne is recovering from his amnesia.

He makes sure he stays ‘under the radar’, making a living by fighting in illegal bare knuckle boxing matches.

Meanwhile Nicky Parsons has been collaborating with a hacktivist group and hacks into the CIA’s mainframe to steal files on the CIA’s black ops programs.

She finds documents about Bourne’s recruitment into the Treadstone program and his father’s involvement.

However Parsons intrusion alerts the head of the CIA’s cyber ops division Heather Lee, who starts an effort to track her down and pick up Bourne in the process.

When Bourne and Parsons meet up in Greece, the CIA sends an active Treadstone asset to intercept them, triggering another epic encounter between Jason Bourne and the CIA.

Jason Bourne – My Thoughts

Jason Bourne is another expertly crafted addition to the Bourne franchise and one that is sure to please the fans.

With Matt Damon and the the director from the second and third films of the series on board, the franchise seeks to ignore the fourth film and bring Bourne back.

It classic Bourne style, the Jason Bourne film is dark and gritty, with extensive action sequences and visceral fight scenes that make you wince.

With a camera that is almost constantly moving, the film makers expertly take the audience through a thrill ride that is synonymous with the franchise.

For me the film was a little too action oriented, taking its own sweet time to resolve the cat and mouse situations.

This left little time for advancing the story, though perhaps that is best in a film series with a focus on action.

Nonetheless, Jason Bourne sticks to the formula that has made the franchise a success, and is sure to appeal to fans of the series.

The closing showdown in Las Vegas certainly breaks new ground in vehicular chase scenes, and has to be seen to be believed!

Jason Bourne Cast, Crew and Performance

Along with Matt Damon in the lead role, the cast includes Tommy Lee Jones, Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel, Julia Stiles, Riz Ahmed and Ato Essandoh.

Jason Bourne was directed by Paul Greengrass, who also helmed Green Zone, United 93, Captain Phillips, The Bourne Ultimatum, and The Bourne Supremacy.

The film has a middle of the road critical reception, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 56%.

It did better with the public though, earning an IMDb score of 6.9/10.

Jason Bourne was a big success in the cinema, taking in $162.1M at the US box office, for a worldwide total over $415M.

The video on the disc is an AVC 1080p encode at 30 Mbps, and is presented in its original aspect ratio of 2.40:1.

The image quality is pretty solid throughout, with real film being a primary medium for the movie shoot.

A lot of the scenes are dark and perhaps somewhat challenging, though this high bitrate encode holds up well from beginning to end.

The main soundtrack is object based DTS:X audio, and it is great to see this included on the Blu-ray release.

Naturally DTS:X audio is also included on the Ultra HD release.

The complex and aggressive audio mix is a great asset to the movie.
