Be sure to watch for the upcoming Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Blu-ray release Annie – on Blu-ray Disc March 17th, 2015.

This new musical comedy-drama film is a contemporary adaptation of the 1977 Broadway musical of the same name, which was in turn based upon the 1924 comic strip Little Orphan Annie by Harold Gray.

It is the third film adaptation, following Columbia’s 1982 theatrical film and Disney’s 1999 television film.

The cast includes Quvenzhane Wallis, Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Cameron Diaz, David Zayas and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

Annie was directed by Will Gluck, who also helmed films like Fired Up, Easy A, and Friends with Benefits.

The movie was largely panned by critics – it earned a Rotten Tomatoes score of 28% and IMDb score of 5/10.

Annie however did pretty well in the cinema, reaching $85.1M at the US box office, and an additional $40M internationally.

A number of supplements including a commentary, bloopers, and sing-a-long segments are planned.

The retail price is $38.99, and you can pre-order it from Amazon for $22.95, saving 41%!

Alternatively you can add it to your Blu-rayStats Wishlist.

Academy Award nominee Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything’s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) – advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) – makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he’s her guardian angel, but Annie’s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it’s the other way around.
