hmm13.jpgThe Blu-ray market share was 13% and the revenue was $19.12M for the week ending May 16th, according to Home Media Magazine.

While Blu-ray revenues are down 20% compared to last year, DVD sales were down over 34% year over year.

Avatar from Fox remains the top contender, though other new releases are getting closer to taking the top spot.

avatar.jpgNew releases Legion from Sony Pictures, Edge of Darkness from Warner and Daybreakers from Lionsgate took the top four spots respectively, with Iron Man from Paramount in 5th place.

Animated Pixar releases Toy Story and Toy Story 2 from Disney continue to do well in 6th and 7th position.

Recent releases Saving Private Ryan from Paramount and It’s Complicated from Universal have slid to11th and 12th place respectively, and Tooth Fairy from Fox took 14th position.

Avatar is still a power house for Blu-ray with a 39% Blu-ray Disc market share.

The three new releases also did well for Blu-ray, with Legion taking 33%, Edge of Darkness with 30%, and Daybreakers 32% on Blu-ray Disc.

The Dark Knight from Warner had a strong week with 62% market share on Blu-ray Disc, probably due to promotional pricing.
