The second Holiday Season animated special to hit Blu-ray Disc is A Charlie Brown Christmas, released by Warner Home Video on October 6th, 2009.

Peanuts is definitely one of the first that comes to mind when people think about classic cartoon strips.

Back in the sixties a number of animated specials featuring the Peanuts gang were created to celebrate a number of holiday occasions, starting with the Christmas Special.

It is Christmas time and Charlie Brown is feeling a little down.

Lucy suggests that Charlie Brown needs to get a little more involved and volunteers him to direct the Christmas play.

Perhaps needless to say Charlie Brown gets no respect, and in an attempt to avoid the commercialism of Christmas chooses a small and unimpressive Christmas tree, earning the contempt of the other children.

Will Charlie Brown find the true meaning of Christmas that he seeks?

The cast includes the Peanuts Gang, a number of ‘regular children’ who provided voicing for the cartoon.

A Charlie Brown Christmas was written by Charles M. Schulz, and produced and directed by Bill Melendez.

The Christmas Special was very well received by critics - it earned a Rotten Tomatoes score of 92% and IMDb score of 8.4/10.

The video on the disc is a VC-1 1080p encode at 23 Mbps, and is presented in its original aspect ratio of 1.37:1.

Keep in mind that the special originated well over 40 years ago when judging the image quality.

The release includes a Digital Copy for Windows Media and a DVD version for legacy players.

A Charlie Brown Christmas is nice little release of a classic and memorable cartoon Christmas Special from Warner Home Video.

It is great to see these historical classics coming to Blu-ray Disc in high definition.
