Burn Notice: Season Two on Blu-ray Disc Released June 16th, 2009

Another nice television Blu-ray Disc release from June 16th is Burn Notice: Season Two from Fox Home Entertainment.
This television show that airs on the USA channel is about a spy who has been ‘burned’, disavowed by the Government, and has effectively lost his identity.
In the series storyline the main character Michael is trying to find out who burned him and why, while helping out others using his Special Ops skills.
In a lot of ways the show feels a bit like a The A Team with a contemporary feel.
Michael’s ‘team’ isĀ his sexy ex-girlfriend who likes playing with guns and Sam, an old friend and ex-Navy Seal.
The cast includes Gabriel Anwar from The Tudors and Bruce Campbell, famous as the survivor of the Evil Dead series and his own film My Name Is Bruce.
The show is fun and witty with a dry sense of humour, and is loaded with action, stunts and explosions.
The visual style and editing are slick and modern, and overall I found this to be a fun and refreshing take on an action spy theme.
Burn Notice: Season Two was created by Matt Nix, who previously made a number of short films.
This TV series is well liked, with a current IMDb score of 8.3/10.
The video on the disc is an AVC 1080p encode at 17 Mbps, and is presented at 1.78:1 aspect ratio, filling the HDTV screen.
The bitrate is a little low for my tastes, though this does allow them to fit the 16 episodes on just 3 discs.
Check out the details page for Burn Notice: Season Two to see full resolution PNG screen captures.
The main audio is lossless DTS-HD Master Audio with 5.1 channels - 24 bits resolution at 48 kHz.
The 3 discs in the set are a dual layer BD50 discs and are coded for Region A.
The special features include commentaries with cast and crew on specific episodes.
Deleted scenes from some episodes are also included.
Creator Matt Nix directed the episode Do No Harm and a making of featurette for this episode is included on Disc 2.
There is an Easter Egg special feature on Disc 3 called Boom Notice - a comedic rip off of the series where Fred the boom operator helps the sound guy find out what the next scene is to be shot.
Burn Notice is an entertaining show and it is great to see another television release from Fox Home Entertainment.
Certainly this Blu-ray Disc release is an excellent way to catch this show if you missed it on the USA Channel.
The retail price is $59.99, available at Amazon for $39.99, saving 33%!
