Star Trek Blu-ray Sets Further Reduced at Amazon

Posted in Amazon Bargains on May 18th, 2009 by Dave

trekbox.jpgIf the $80 deal for the first six Star Trek movies was not tempting enough, Amazon has further reduced the pricing of the box sets.

Save 50% on the Star Trek: Motion Picture Trilogy, only $32.99.

Also save 50% on the Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection, now only $69.99.

Of course with Amazon you never know how long these deals will last…

Update: Looks like it is back to $80 again already! Yikes!

I’m deeply disturbed by the reviews given the Star Trek films and the noted problems with PQ. I was planning on holding off for the big box set which reportedly will hit shelves this Christmas. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that perhaps the Studio will take the opportunity to attempt a better transfer and thus redeem itself.

There are screen shots of the Trilogy up on the details page for that release.

Personally I think that they aren’t so bad, but you can take a look for yourself.

I also think that the chance of a new transfer is almost zero. Most if not all double dips so far have been not only the same transfer but even the same encode.

Terminator 2 should be at least a new encode, hopefully a new transfer too.
