Blu-ray Weekly Revenue Continues to Exceed $10M Into Feb 2009

hmm14.jpgWhile down compared to the previous week, Blu-ray Disc revenues remain over $10M for the week ending February 1st 2009, according to Home Media Magazine.

The market share for the top 20 Blu-ray versus DVD was also healthy at 14% for the week.

The Bourne Trilogy topped the week for Universal, followed closely by Eagle Eye and and Iron Man, pushing The Dark Knight to 4th position.

New titles Lakeview Terrace and Pride and Glory took 5th and 7th place, Hulk Vs. took 8th and RocknRolla took 11th place.

Market share for individual Blu-ray titles remains strong, with The Bourne Trilogy topping 80% for Blu-ray.

On the back of discounted prices, Paramount titles Iron Man, Tropic Thunder, Eagle Eye and Transformers all sold roughly the same number of Blu-ray Discs as DVD’s for the week.

The Dark Knight remains strong with 28% of units on the HD format, with Death Race and Wanted selling a quarter of their units on Blu-ray.

Newcomer RocknRolla debuted with over 22% market share for Blu-ray Disc, while Lakeview Terrace settled for 9% and Vicky Cristina Barcelona 7% market share.

These numbers all indicate a rise in market share compared to 2008.
