Blu-ray Revenues Up Significantly for the Week Ending November 16th

Blu-ray revenues saw in increase of over 83% for the week ending November 16th according to Home Media Magazine.
The top 20 market share versus DVD was up a little to 9% while the revenue topped $20M after a couple of weeks of tailing off. Perhaps people are beginning to get into the Holiday Season spirit!
While Kung Fu Panda did well for the remainder of the week after a Sunday release, it did have to take second place to Hellboy II: The Golden Army , which perhaps fits the Blu-ray demographic a little better.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars was next, followed by ever popular Incredible Hulk and Iron Man.
Also worthy of mention, the box set of Band of Brothers was placed 6th, followed by recent releases Get Smart and Journey to the Center of the Earth.
On the per title marker share side, we were unfortunately limited to 10 titles, which hides some of the more interesting data.
Oddly the chart is topped by Hancock - I believe this was due to Best Buy having a pre-sale opportunity for this title for its rewards club members.
Back in the ‘real world’, we mainly get to see catalog titles since the new releases almost never make the top 10.
Of note, both the Band of Brothers and Firefly TV series boxes sold three times as many Blu-ray Discs as DVDs for the week.
Other titles that sold more Blu-ray than DVD included Troy, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Departed and Batman Begins - with the Troy Blu-ray taking almost 90% market share!
I sense a promotion being responsible there also.
