Producers Guild of America’s Blu-ray BD Live Event at Pixar

Posted in BD Live, Commentary, Technology on November 12th, 2008 by Dave

Ok, this was a long time coming I know, but hopefully it will be a good read none the less.

Not too long ago I was fortunate enough to attend a presentation at Pixar Animation Studios for the Producers Guild of America where the topic was BD Live.

I have written a featured article that you can check out here.

At the presentation, representitives from Disney, Fox, Sun, MX Entertainment and RCDB all presented thoughts on BD Live from their perspective.

The MX Entertainment presentation on the Neil Young archives was certainly a highlight.

To me, BD Live is one of the more interesting aspects of Blu-ray - while not essential, it is entertaining.

Watch for more posts relating to BD Live coming soon.

In any case I hope you enjoy the article - feel free to leave comments here.

Hi. That Pixar trip sounded like great fun. I would have loved it. Foe me BD-live is exciting as it offers the posibility of adding subtitles to discs that ship without them I want Greek subtitles for my partner. Recently a German version of “The Orphanage” pionered this. I hope it’d just the beginning. http://www.imagion.de/en/news/news-article/article/3/das-waisenhaus-untertitel-per-bd-live.html

It was a very fun time as well as an eye opener.

They certainly mentioned the opportunity BD Live has to add media tracks including a wider range of subtitles etc to the discs.

If executed well there are many opportunities for added value.
