Blu-ray Revenues and Market Share Settle For the Week Ending October 12th

After a very busy week for Blu-ray with the release or Iron Man on September 30th, the second week of October saw Blu-ray market share and revenue subside to more typical levels.
The market share was 10% against DVD and the week saw a better than average $14.37M in revenue, according to Home Media Magazine.
Iron Man remained the top seller, beating out Sleeping Beauty - which was somewhat of a surprise to many.
The remainder of the top 5 included The Happening, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan and Transformers.
Other new releases in the top 20 chart were Beetlejuice in 12th place, Young Frankenstein in 15th and Interview with the Vampire in 16th place.
This week’s titles that sold more on Blu-ray than DVD were Interview with the Vampire, The Godfather Collection , Young Frankenstein and 300.
Other titles doing well on Blu-ray include The Departed at around 36%, Transformers with around 35% for Blu-ray, and I Am Legend around 32%.
Three titles managed right around 16% - Iron Man in its second week, Casino Royale and Speed Racer.
Sleeping Beauty didn’t quite manage 10% market share in its first week - The Happening and You Don’t Mess with the Zohan managed between 7 and 8 percent.
I can’t help but wonder if Disney would have sold more Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray copies if they made it more clear that there is a DVD copy included in the package!
