More Blu-ray Opera and Imports Listed

It looks like yesterday’s Opera listing from Decca was just the beginning.
Il Barbiere Di Siviglia has been freshly listed by Decca, scheduled for a November 18th, 2008 release.
Retail will be $32.98, only $23.95 at Amazon.
Additional Decca releases on the same day, same price, include will be releasing Nutcracker, Aida, Eugene Onegin, Swan Lake and Spartacus.
Deutsche Grammophon is releasing Le Nozze Di Figaro - also on November 18th, 2008.
Again retail is set at $32.98, pre-order at Amazon for only $23.95.
Deutsche Grammophon is also planning to release Berlin Concert: Live From Waldbuhne, Opera Gala: Live From Baden-Baden, I Puritani and Manon on November 18th with the same pricing.
I also see a number of new import listings from 101 Distribution. These all look like UK releases imported to the USA.
Expect Erin Brockovich on October 7th, 2008.
Retail has been set at $41.49, bargain hunters will find it at Amazon for $30.95.
Great Expectations is listed for release October 14th.
Retail has been set at $44.99, the Amazon price has been set at $32.95.
Red Desert has been scheduled for an October 21st release.
The retail price will be $49.99, you can pre-order it at Amazon for $36.95.

Perhaps the unexpected winning of America’s Got Talent by an opera singer will broaden opera’s appeal here in the USA?

In any case, I like to see niche interests getting strong representation on the Blu-ray format.
