hmm08.jpgThe Blu-ray revenue and top 20 market share versus DVD both receded somewhat according to Home Media Magazine, which is hardly surprising for the week after the Transformers release.

Market share was 8% while the revenue was down 13% to $9.18M for the week - still respectable but not double figures.

The week for Blu-ray was won by The Forbidden Kingdom, followed closely by Transformers in its second week.

I was surprised to see Smallville - The Complete Seventh Season in third place while Baby Mama took fourth, and Kill Bill - Volume One and Kill Bill - Volume Two were 5th and 6th respectively.

The classic How the West Was Won took 10th place while The Fall was 11th, and Cool Hand Luke came in 15th.

The remainder of the top 20 was largely comprised of recent releases like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Heroes: Season 2 and Top Gun, as well as more titles from Warner/New Line promotions like Troy, Pan’s Labyrinth and Shoot ‘Em Up.

In the market share on a per title basis, 8 titles sold more units on Blu-ray than on DVD, including Eraser, Kill Bill - Volumes 1 & 2, A Clockwork Orange, 300 and Transformers.

Classic titles Cool Hand Luke and how the west was won sold roughly half of their DVD sales count on Blu-ray Disc….

The Fall sold over 28% on Blu-ray and Batman Begins around 20%.

The Forbidden Kingdom sold almost 12% on Blu-ray while Smallville - Seventh Season sold almost 7% and Baby Mama was right around 2.5%.
