TDK to Bring 6x BD-R Recordable Blu-ray Discs to Market

tdk.jpgI see over at TWICE that Imation/TDK has announced their 6x recording speed Blu-ray Discs.

The release plan includes both single and double-layer (BD-R DL) discs with 6x recording speed.

This will be the fastest recording speeds available in the U.S. market. 6x BD-R data requires transfer rates around 216Mbps - around the same as 20x recordable DVD media - matching the fastest DVD recorders currently.

With a suitable recorder, 25GB of data can be recorded in around 17 minutes.

The TDK 6x media will ship in October with a suggested retail of $13.99 for a BD–R disc and $32.99 for a BD-R DL disc.

The company is also launching a line of Blu-ray cleaning and storage accessories, including reusable microfiber cloths, dry one-time use Clean Cloths, a Blu-ray player laser-lens cleaner and Blu-ray Tyvek disc-storage sleeves. These will ship in November.

The question in my mind - where are the printable discs!?!
