Market Share and Revenues Up, Largely Due to Transformers Release

Home Media Magazine is reporting both market share and revenue increases for the week ending September 7th.
The market share for the week is double that of last week, equalling the all time high at 12% for the top 20 market share versus DVD.
Revenues were also back up to a comfortable $10.6M - nice to see double digits again.
Transformers was easily the winner for the week, selling more than 7 times the second place title, The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Heroes: Season 2, 300 and Batman Begins round out the top 5 titles.
Many of the recent releases appear to have been pushed out of the top 20 by a Warner promotion, with What Happens in Vegas in 6th place, The Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow in 11th, The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior in 16th and Street Kings equaling The Fugitive in a tie for 18th place.
The per title market share clearly shows the impact of Transformers as well as a Warner promotion boosting sales for Warner titles.
Transformers sold two thirds of its volume this week on Blu-ray Disc - very nice for a popular title.
One can only imagine how much better it would have sold though if there was a Blu-ray option Day and Date - I am sure many Blu-ray capable households settled for the DVD when the title was released and some won’t bother to replace it.
Warner did fabulously this week, with many titles selling more than half their units on Blu-ray Disc - including A Clockwork Orange, Shoot ‘Em Up, 300, The Fugitive and Troy.
Swordfish and Bullitt sold incredibly well - over 80% on Blu-ray - while Eraser and Enter the Dragon sold more than three quarters and Pan’s Labyrinth and The Shining sold better than two thirds.
Recent releases doing well on Blu-ray include The Nightmare Before Christmas over 16% and The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior around 14% while Street Kings sold almost 10% and Heroes: Season 2 was just under 8%.
