kill-bills.jpgSeptember is finally here - a month I have been looking forward to for quite some time - and not just because of my planned vacation at the end of the month.

The various Blu-ray Disc announcements in recent times have been filling in the picture for year end releases, and the month of September has some really great titles.

This kicked off with the much anticipated Transformers Blu-ray, which was released a week ago on September 2nd.

howwest.jpgThis week we have Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill - Volumes 1 & 2 along with classics such as Cool Hand Luke and How the West Was Won.

Expect fresh releases like Baby Mama and more TV Box sets - Grey’s Anatomy: The Complete Fourth Season and Smallville - The Complete Seventh Season.

Additionally, for foreign film fans we have the Russian films Night Watch and Day Watch. For Tom Cruise fans we have Jerry Maguire.

1408.jpgNext week we have the first Weinstein Company releases The Mist and 1408 to look forward to.

September 16th also features Day and Date titles Speed Racer from the Wachowskis, Mike Meyers in The Love Guru, Pacino in 88 Minutes and Patrick Dempsey in Made of Honor.

Fans of BBC SciFi will find Torchwood: The Complete First Season, rock fans get AC/DC: No Bull, TV fans will love Pushing Daisies: The Complete First Season, Ang Lee fans get The Hulk and Tom Cruise fans - Risky Business.

godfather.jpgSeptember 23rd is a formidable release date, with notable releases including DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek the Third and Madagascar, Paramount’s The Godfather - The Coppola Restoration, and New Line’s Sex and the City and Blow.

Also worthy of mention are a couple of titles that I enjoyed at the cinema - George Clooney’s Leatherheads and the Simon Pegg comedy Run, Fat Boy, Run.

Cirque fans will enjoy Cirque Du Soleil - Corteo and also of note, the excellent Warner title L.A. Confidential.

ironman.jpgThe month ends as it started with a huge action title - Iron Man will be released on September 30.

The date has many other worthy releases, including more action in the form of Daredevil, and three great comedies from Universal Studios - The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Horror titles are starting to show, including The Thing, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead and Land of the Dead, as well as romantic comedies Maid in Manhattan and My Best Friend’s Wedding.

Perhaps deserving special mention is the release of M Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense - the sleeper hit that started his series of twisty plot movies.

Music lovers are in for a treat too with releases including Roy Orbison: A Black & White Night, Legends: Live at Montreux 1997 and Jethro Tull Live at Montreux 2003.

Whichever way you look at it, it is going to be an expensive months for lovers of High Definition content on Blu-ray Disc, no matter what you taste in content is!
