Sony Blu-ray Player News from CEDIA

When it comes to news from CEDIA, it seems that ‘all at once’ is the name of the game.
Among the buzz today I noticed a number of reports about Blu-ray players.
While personally I am content to just wait for somebody to release a Blu-ray player with built in DTS-HD Master Audio decoding and 7.1 analog outputs that will work with the New Line titles, it is interesting to see what is being promised.
It looks like Sony has a new range of players coming out.
As well as the BDP-S550, Sony is releasing a BD Live capable ES series player, the BDP-S5000ES. Of course, the biggest feature is the $2000 price tag.
Of course it pretty much features everything you could want in a player (including the aforementioned DTS-HD Master Audio decoding to high quality 7.1 analog outputs).
Additionally it features external removable storage for BD Live downloads (1GB included) and RS232 control for those super serious home theater automation types.
Look for the release in the November time frame.
For those with space and/or budget constraints Sony is releasing a pair of ‘Home Theater in a Box’ systems with wireless connectivity for the speakers.
These systems look pretty cool really - aside from the wireless speakers they feature the full range of audio decoding, including the elusive DTS-HD Master Audio, and have a cradle for iPod included, as well as optional Bluetooth and Sony Network Walkman connectivity.
The BDV-IT1000ES and BDV-IS1000 will ship in October for $1,999 and around $1,000 respectively.
