fantasia.jpgDVD Times has an interesting report up about the BDA press conference at IFA in Berlin.

Along with BD Live presentations, there are reports about Disney’s plans for Blu-ray over the next few years.

As well as titles known to be coming in the next couple of years - Pinocchio, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 - there was also footage shown from 101 Dalmatians, The Lion King, and other Disney 2D animated classics.

Also, at The Digital Bits today, Bill Hunt is reporting on the upcoming Disney releases, reiterating that Pinocchio, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, Fantasia 2000 and Beauty and the Beast are all on the way.

According to a Disney press release, the Platinum Blu-ray titles will be available for a limited time only, in new multi-disc sets featuring rarely seen footage and an array of new bonus features.

The first title, Sleeping Beauty: 50th Anniversary Platinum Edition, will be released on Blu-ray on 10/7, along with the U.S. launch of Disney’s BD-Live Network.

Pinocchio is expected in the spring of 2009, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the fall of 2009, while Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 will both be released in early to mid-2010.

Apparently the unfinished Walt Disney / Salvador Dali collaboration Destino is set to arrive on disc at the same time as the Fantasia Blu-rays in 2010. Lastly, Beauty in the Beast is planned for Blu-ray Disc in the fall of 2010.

It is great to see that Disney is including Blu-ray Disc for their Platinum Disc plans.
