Quite a number of anticipated titles have been freshly listed for pre-order at Amazon.
The first five eagerly anticipated Criterion Collection titles are up, with the typical Amazon discount bringing the price down to $27.95. Not bad considering that in DVD land, the Criterion titles have tended to carry a premium over regular titles - here the pricing is on a par with typical new releases from Paramount and Universal as well as most releases from Fox and MGM.
The titles are The Third Man, Man Who Fell to Earth, Last Emperor and Bottle Rocket on November 18th, followed by Chungking Express on November 25th, 2008.
Also previously mentioned, Incredible Hulk has been freshly listed by Universal Studios, scheduled for an October 21st, 2008 release. Retail has been set at $39.98, bargain hunters will find it at Amazon for only $27.95.
Columbia/Tri-Star has Zombie Strippers coming to Blu-ray on October 28th, 2008. The release is an unrated edition of the movie featuring Jenna Jameson and Robert Englund.
The retail price is $38.96, you can pre-order it at Amazon for only $26.95.
Paramount is releasing Old School on December 16th, 2008. The comedy featuring Luke Wilson, Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn and Jeremy Piven garnered $75M at the US Box Office and somewhat of a cult favourite.
The retail price will be $29.99, pre-order at Amazon for $20.95.
Warner Home Video has announced Essential Holiday Collection for Blu-ray on October 28th, 2008. This box set contains The Polar Express, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Elf and A Christmas Story (it is not clear if this is the new version or the old one).
The retail price will be $99.99, pre-order at Amazon for $69.95.
There are a couple of new Opera titles listed also.
Arthaus Musik has Verdi: La Traviata coming to Blu-ray on September 30th, 2008. The retail price will be $39.99, pre-order at Amazon for $27.95.
