Wall-E, Prince Caspian and Universal Gangsters Planned for Blu-ray

Posted in BD Live, Studios, US Releases on August 15th, 2008 by Dave

disney.jpgIn the most recent Home Media Magazine, Disney is advertising their third and fourth quarter Blu-ray releases.

The two page advertisement gives the release date for Wall-E as November 18th and Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian as December 2nd.

The advertising also states that Nightmare Before Christmas, Wall-E as November 18th and Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian will all feature a Digital Copy, hinting at iPod compatibility.

The advertisement also shows ‘BD(isney) Live Network’, highlighting the BD Live features on the Tinkerbell and Sleeping Beauty releases.

In other news, DVD Times is reporting on the expected releases of American Gangster, Casino and Eastern Promises - which will be available as a gangster box set.

The extras are extensive, including U-Control Picture in Picture for American Gangster and Casino.

Lastly, the latest Digital Bits column reports that rumours of Sin City coming to Blu-ray this year are not correct. I am not happy to hear that.

Glad to hear the Wall-E street date. Hopefully Pixar delivers the rest of their wonderful movie library to us soon! I’ll be near the front of the line to grab Nightmare Before Christmas in a couple weeks (don’t care how many times I’ve bought that one - the blu-ray is a must). BTW, Dave, you must be a fellow Canadian or a U.K. resident, judging by the way you spell “rumours”. No offense, but I thought you were in the U.S.:)

Somehow I get the feeling that Disney will take their time with the Pixar releases, taking full advantage of these valuable releases. I am looking forward to a number of them myself.

I am in the USA, though I originally came from ‘Lord of the Rings’ territory.

Oh, I agree on Nightmare Before Christmas too. My non-anamorphic DVD will be replaced for sure!
