hmm10.jpgHome Media Magazine is reporting that the top 20 market share for Blu-ray Disc against DVD is back in double digits with 10% this week - up from 9% the week before.

The revenue for Blu-ray was also up 17.85% over the previous week at $9.42M for the week.

Stargate: Continuum was the at the top of the sales chart for Blu-ray - quite a surprise to me, I expected it to be more of a niche title. Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay took second place with roughly 3/4 of the sales of Stargate: Continuum. The top 5 was rounded out by Batman Begins, 21 and Doomsday. Summit’s Never Back Down did well for an independent, coming in 7th.

Catalog titles Dark City and The Hunt for Red October placed 8th and 9th, while Rolling Stones concert movie Shine a Light placed 14th. Beowulf came in lower than I expected - 16th place.

The Hunt for Red October topped the per title market share chart, selling over 3/4 of its units on Blu-ray Disc. Beowulf, Top Gun, Dark City and Patriot Games all sold around 60% on Blu-ray while The Lost Boys sold just under half.

Day and Date releases that sold 10-15% on Blu-ray this week include The Bank Job, 10,000 B.C., Doomsday and Vantage Point.

Stargate: Continuum sold just over 9% on Blu-ray, while Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay sold just over 7% in high definition - not bad for a comedy I guess.
