Poltergeist and Interview with the Vampire Scheduled for US Blu-ray Release

After some time listed in Europe, I am pleased to see a couple of Warner titles added to the US release slate.

Warner is planning to release Poltergeist on October 14th, 2008. This Tobe Hooper / Steven Spielberg collaboration will be presented in the special booklet packaging.

The retail price will be $34.99, pre-order at Amazon for $23.95.

Warner will also be releasing Interview with the Vampire on Blu-ray Disc on October 14th. This movie featuring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Christian Slater is one I have been personally looking forward to.

Retail this time is $28.99, pre-order at Amazon for $19.95.

Poltergeist - one of the best movies of the 80s! I’ll be grabbing this disc as soon as it hits store shelves. Warner’s digibook format takes a little getting used to, but they have nice pictures & info in them. Also, extra points to Warner for giving this one a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack instead of leaving us with da nasty old lossy Dolby Digital track. They’re here, indeed…

I am also very pleased that the catalog titles are getting TrueHD sound tracks.

Hopefully it is a sign that Warner has seen the light - Blu-ray Disc is designed for lossless audio.
