Samsung to Bring More Affordable Blu-ray ‘Home Theater in a Box’

samsunghtib.jpgTwice is reporting that Samsung will expand its range of Blu-ray home theater in a box systems to three models with the August shipment of the 5.1-channel HT-BD2E. The system is priced at $799, making it the most affordable available.

The BD2E features five satellite speakers, a passive subwoofer and 800 watts of RMS power. The system will join the two 7.1-channel systems that are currently available.

Samsung’s three models include an integrated single-disc BD 1.0 Blu-ray player, 1080p up-scaling of DVD content, HDMI-CEC, selectable 24/60 fps BD playback, decoders for all Blu-ray surround formats except for the DTS HD Master format and an Ethernet port for firmware upgrades.
