sexandthecity.jpgWe have a bit of a mixed bag of UK news today. Let’s start with new pre-order announcements.

We see Sex and the City: The Movie has been scheduled by Entertainment in Video on September 22nd, 2008.

Brits will also get Heroes Season 1 and Heroes Season 2 from Playback on August 25th, 2008.

For those with more eclectic taste, we see Salo, Or The 120 Days Of Sodom from Bfi Video on September 22nd, 2008 and Helvetica - Experimental Jet Set Limited Edition from Plexifilm on August 4th, 2008.

We read some interesting news about Optimum Home Entertainment’s upcoming releases over at DVD Times. Apparently My Blueberry Nights, Diary of the Dead, Son of Rambow will be coded Region B only, while All The Boys Love Mandy Lane and The Orphanage will be coded for all Regions. Interesting to see that Optimum is mixing it up.

Also of interest, the Terminator 2: Judgement Day (Director’s Cut) Blu-ray will be a dual-layer barebones release coded for Regions A and B with 1080P 2.35 VC-1 and English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio lossless sound. There will also be a Total Recall release on BD50, coded for Regions A and B again with VC-1 and English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. These could well be good alternatives to the Lions Gate releases in the USA which were early MPEG2 BD25 releases, noting also that T2 is the director’s cut.

Lastly, for the bargain hunters we notice that new titles have been added to the Amazon Three for the Price of Two promotion. Personally I picked up Lucky Number Slevin, Almost Famous and The Bone Collector (hope it is coded for all regions!) as well as Black Sheep and The Seventh Seal. This promotion will run through to almost the end of July, and it seems that the titles involved are fluid so it may be worth checking back there from time to time.
