Today saw the release of a couple of high profile movies on Blu-ray Disc, as well as a few smaller titles.
The latest film from Emmerich and Devlin, 10,000 B.C., was released - this one did almost $100M at the box office - perhaps a disappointment all things considered.
The other high profile release was The Spiderwick Chronicles featuring Freddie Highmore, who (like Abigail Breslin) seems to be the child actor of choice these days.
The other releases perhaps fall into more niche categories - there is the surfing film Step Into Liquid , the Cantonese movie House of Fury from Tai Seng, the Imax film Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure, the highly praised animated film Persepolis, performance ‘art’ in the form of Rossini: La Cenerentola and ZZ Top: Live from Texas, and scenic releases Over Alaska and Washington the Beautiful.
Perhaps also worth a mention, the Fox three pack bundles became available today - from $59.95 to $65.95, these represent a saving of 45%. The bundles are: Blu-ray Action Bundle (Robocop / Predator / Terminator), Blu-ray Comedy Bundle (Juno / The Devil Wears Prada / Mrs. Doubtfire), Blu-ray Comedy Bundle (Simpsons the Movie / Me, Myself and Irene / Meet the Spartans), Blu-ray Horror Bundle (The Hills Have Eyes 2 / 28 Weeks Later / 28 Days Later), Blu-ray Kids and Family Bundle (Ice Age / Alvin and the Chipmunks /Night at the Museum), Blu-ray Sci-Fi Bundle (I Robot / Independence Day / Day After Tomorrow), Blu-ray Superhero Bundle (Fantastic Four / Fantastic Four - Rise of the Silver Surfer / X-Men 3 - The Last Stand), Blu-ray Suspense and Thriller Bundle (The Usual Suspects / Speed / Phone Booth), Blu-ray War Bundle (Battle of Britain / A Bridge Too Far / Flyboys), Blu-ray War Bundle (Rescue Dawn / Windtalkers / Behind Enemy Lines) and Blu-ray War Classics Bundle (Patton / The Longest Day / Sand Pebbles).
