Home Media Magazine is reporting upcoming releases on Blu-ray for L.A. Confidential and CJ7.

Warner appears to be taking advantage of the timing of a new 2 disc special edition DVD of L.A. Confidential to also release a Blu-ray version of the movie, avoiding the Blu Raspberry Award for this week (which will be up later).

Nominated for Best Picture and a swag of other Oscars, the picture won two - Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay and Best Actress in a Supporting Role. I once heard that the editor of the film claims to have created Kim Basinger’s award winning performance from outtakes and additional footage from before and after the official scenes. Somehow I find this to be credible!

In any case, great to see a Blu-ray version of this excellent film being prepped for release - expect it September 23rd.

Secondly we see an announcement for the Cantonese movie CJ7 (Cheung Gong 7 hou), which sounds a little bit like Gremlins if you ask me. The disc will be released by Sony Pictures August 12th.

The movie comes from actor/director Stephen Chow, most famous for his Kung Fu Hustle movie as well as Shaolin Soccer.
