Special Edition Matrix Box Set Information for Japan

Posted in International Releases, Studios on June 1st, 2008 by Dave

matrix.gifWe read over at AV Watch (via google translation) that the Matrix Trilogy and Animatrix will be released in a special box set, which will include some Matrix toys, similar to those pictured.

And what a Box! There will be seven discs, four Blu-rays (one for each title + Animatrix) and three DVDs of extras. The third DVD will be Digital Copy versions of the movies! We have not seen Digital Copy from Warner announced in the USA yet. The other two DVDs appear to be the same as those included in the 10 disc DVD set from a few years back.

The release date is November 19, and the set is priced at 39,800 yen (almost $400!). Production quantity is limited.

Hopefully we will see news of a US release of The Matrix some time soon. It is certainly one of the titles that irked Blu-ray owners the most when Warner decided to release it HD DVD exclusive back in May 2007.

Certainly is - while I like the Matrix, I can’t imagine spending the kind of money I could get 20 catalogue titles for…!

    I have patience… :D
