DVD Active is reporting a July 29th release date for Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay. The original film, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle didn’t do a lot of business at the box office (roughly $18M) but did very well on DVD. The sequel has an estimated $36M so far, but this title may again be expected to do better on home video.

Not much in the way of details on the disc sadly - I really hope they release the original along with the sequel myself…

Also for release soon is one of my favourites from the shortened television season, Pushing Daisies. DVD Times is reporting the US Blu-ray Disc release of Pushing Daisies Season 1 on 16th September 2008, retail priced at $39.99.

It is interesting to see these ‘inexpensive’ TV box sets, no doubt due to there being only nine episodes on the disc. We also get short changed on the audio - Dolby Digital 5.1 is reported. I know it is only TV but is it really that hard to encode the audio with TrueHD or even just leave it as LPCM? Perhaps there was some desire to hit BD25 discs with this one, making lossless audio a little tricky..?
