VideoScan First Alert Data For Week Ending March 2nd

Posted in Market Share on March 7th, 2008 by Dave

hmm080302.jpgThe market share for Blu-ray Disc was again 3:1 for the week ending March 2nd according to Home Media Magazine.

Considering that clearance pricing was well into effect for this week, it is interesting to see that consumers have somewhat rejected the idea of buying into the format even at significant discounts.

Major titles on HD DVD still did well, with Beowulf and American Gangster in the 2nd and 3rd spot, with 30 Days of Night winning the week. It was interesting to see Over California make the Top 10 - the first time I can recall seeing a ’scenic’ disc do well. Also of interest are titles like Ratatouille and Pirates of the Caribbean 3, now well past release date.
