Funai Blu-ray Player to have Sony and Panasonic Internals

funai.jpgWe read at Nikkei that the Funai Blu-ray player announced at CES will be based on engineering from Sony and Panasonic.

The NB500 is expected in Q2 with a $300 street price. The optical head for the unit will be provided by Sony and the core system will be the Matsushita / Panasonic UniPhier chipset.

Looks like this budget priced player should compete well performance-wise in the Blu-ray player marketplace.
